Time for an update on my sleepy escapades. The database recieved 58 returning visitors yesterday, the most ever so far. I noticed a funny (yet not surprising) trend in my database site stats. When I first went public with it, the site had literally hundreds of page loads. I'm talking 400, 600 up to 976 page loads. Then suddenly, the page loads dropped but returning visitors went up. I think it's because people began saving pictures to their hard disks, so they kept coming back and opening the page. Once they've saved everything, people come back occasionally to see what new stuff I put up. I update very frequently because there is just so much stuff out there.
Here's something even more interesting that I found out. The Original Art section is actually the most popular page. It's the page with the fewest content (but of the highest quality). So I think I'll develop that page a little bit more. I just added a section for webcomics, another untapped resource that I do not have time to search. I bet there are hundreds of chloroform scenes in webcomics that will never be seen.

My true goal would be to one day post my own original art. There is only one problem though: I can't draw. Although a certain someone I know personally does know how to draw (he's the only human being I have ever told my secret to). He's kind of reluctant to draw me anything right now but I'm not in a rush.
I'm trying to learn how to CG so when this person does draw me something I can make it look good.

So I found this awesome comic cover: Blackhawk #133. It was in this issue that Lady Blackhawk was introduced. On the cover it's obvious that she is being handgagged, only one thin cloth away from being chloroformed. As I was looking at this cover I thought, wouldn't it be cool if Lady Blackhawk actually WAS chloroformed? It shouldn't be too hard, all I needed to do was add a cloth between the mouth and the hand.
Manipulations are not as easy as they look. It took me a while to get the effect I wanted (okay, like 15 minutes). This is what I do when I am bored:

Lady Blackhawk was never chloroformed in any of her appearances I don't think. I can always dream though.
She did gas a whole bunch of crooks with her boots in this issue.

Damn that's hot. I don't know about you, but if I was caught in a cloud of sleeping gas from Lady Blackhawk's BOOTS I would not want to hold my breath. If it was some dude taking his boots off, I would be out of there in like two seconds.
Yeah, this is the stuff they did in comics back in the good old days. Sleeping gas from boots. The Blackhawks had an Asian member named "Chop-Chop" and a mascot named "Blackie". How f*cking messed up is that?

Cloak and Dagger: Three Scenes

Did you like how I indexed all those scenes from the Diabolik graphic novel? I used Closetmonster's site as a source, so all credit goes to that site. I just listed all the scans here so you don't have to go through all their scans. But if you like masking scenes goto that site, it's pretty incredible.
It almost seems like Diabolik is nothing more than a fetish graphic novel, because there are just SO MANY chloro and gas scenes.

I just found two new chloroform scenes from a comic called "Cloak and Dagger". Many of you have probably seen the scene where Dagger (hot blonde blind girl in white costume) is chloroformed (or etherized, since chloroform is not really mentioned in this comic but it's a white cloth with anesthesizing fumes so it's good!). The villain is a crazy dude named The Marked Man who uses an ether soaked rag as a weapon. That's the best weapon since the Sandman's sleeping gas gun! Why can't more villains use a chloroform soaked rag as their main weapon?
The Marked Man is introduced in Cloak and Dagger v3 #10. And guess what he does first? He chloroforms a lady in the subway how awesome is that? I believe this is the first time this scene has ever been posted:

The Marked Man's next victim is a guy, but I know some people actually like M/M scenes (meh, they're okay). This dude is kind of fat.

Thankfully that chloro is overshadowed by the main event:

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! There's even a nice splash page with Dagger getting the cloth, fucking brilliant. But after this issue The Marked Man never showed up again. Darn it this guy was amazing!

"The Fairly Oddparents"

If you watch Nickelodeon then you probably know there's a cartoon called "The Fairly Oddparents". I'm not going to go into detail on what the show is about. Nickelodeon practically shows it 24 hours a day.
I know, I'm weird.Well I was flipping through the TV one day when I decided to watch just a random episode of the Fairly Oddparents. The episode was called "Class Clown" (thanks to the magic of Satellite TV). It was about how Timmy gave Trixie a man-eating plant that was going to eat her at midnight. Well when midnight struck the plant was coming to life, ready to devour Trixie. Just before it eats her, the plant releases a puff of sleeping gas into Trixie's face. I was very surprised; so shocked I had to find out the episode name and torrent it immediately.
Well I eventually acquired the episode and clipped the scene. It is now on Youtube for all of you to see.

CLICK HERE TO SEE TRIXIE GASSED!

There was another episode called "Boys in the Band" where a young dude gets gassed. Not wasting my bandwith on that one. But Nickelodeon has been springing some surprises lately. An episode of Jimmy Newtron (forgot which one) had a scene where Jimmy's dad is gassed (not clipping that one either!). I guess the only way to find scenes is to just watch a lot of TV.

I'm going to update the database with a lot of scenes from Diabolik soon.

I noticed that traffic to my blog has recently increased. Sunday saw the most page views so far (156). Saturday had 23 returning visitors!
Traffic to the database has been huge. Thursday (7/20) had 45 returning visitors, while Friday had 44. I decided to store the databases on a different server to spread the bandwith a little. Returning visitors assures me that this endeavor is worth taking.

When I began my project of indexing sleepy scenes in comics, I realized a big problem. Originally I wanted to list which exact issue every scene came from (comic title and the issue number). So far I am doing good, mostly because I keep a record of each scene I find. I also happen to have a lot of old scans, saved from when I was surfing other peoples' sleepy websites. Back then, I never kept a record of which issue each scan came from. In fact, I tried erasing as much information about the scan as possible! Instead of naming each picture file "AmazingAdventures#06.jpg" I would name it something like "g1.jpg". The reason for this was to make it look less suspicious should anyone else view my browser History! I know, we can clear history but sometimes I forget. So all my old scans are named c1.jpg, g5a.jpg, etc. It is very hard to determine which comic issue they came from. A lot of times I can use Google and figure out where a scan came from. Some scans require intense research. You need patience which is something I don't think a lot of people have for this endeavor.

For example, here are scans from a Vampirella comic (from the Project X site). I don't remember which comic, I lost it during the saving process.

Maybe someone can tell me which issue this came from because I don't know.
Vampi is simply gorgeous in her leather dress and boots. And then she is pumped with sedatives. She's hit with two darts which brings her down. While she is laying there all disorientated, another guy shoots a dart into her leg. That finally puts her to sleep. Really good dart scene, one of my favorites. The only problem with this scene: Vampirella is wearing too much clothing.

Here's another scene I found while looking through a Thor anthology. Jane Foster is knocked out with "slumber mist", which is just another way to say sleeping gas. A lot of good carry scenes which bumps this scan up a few stars.
It's interesting to see how writers refer to "sleeping gas" in comics. In this one they called it "slumber mist" just to be different. Sometimes it's "poison gas", "knockout gas", "noxogas", "zyklon B", "slumber cloud" or just "GAS!!!!". It's almost certain when a heroine yells out the word "gas" it usually means there is an anesthetic floating in the air. It's also funny when the villain makes a stupid pun when he is gassing a heroine. Sometimes the villain will say "this is going to be a gas" or some sentence where the word gas means hilarious or fun. Man I think about this stuff way too much.

Secret's Out

Last night, for the first time in my life I told someone about my fascination. For my entire life I have kept it a secret, but this person kept asking me what I was hiding. I finally decided I would feel a little better if someone else in the world knew. Man, it was weird talking to this person about my fascination. The problem was he just didn't GET IT. When you don't understand it, you just think it's weird.
I think he was overwhelmed with my website. Yes, I showed him everything (probably not a good idea). I'm afraid I might have traumatized this person. Like his mind was just blown away. He did like the design of my website though (content aside of course!).

I don't know if I will tell more people. I guess the fewer who know about it the better.

To tell you the truth I don't think this person really cares anymore. At least now I can continue my project without someone interfering every five minutes.

It's probably a bad idea, but I am updating the website so frequently it's unhealthy. Normally I would give some time so people can appreciate the scans more while they are still on the top. After I assimilate the new scans into the database, it's hard to tell which ones are new and which ones are old. Indeed a lot of the content in the databases have been seen elsewhere. And I promise that once I get that out of the way the only thing left to post is new content. I am already getting ready to unleash a bunch of never before seen content so just wait a little longer. Leave an anonymous comment so I know you guys still exist. It seems as if everyone is ignoring me lately for some reason.

While browsing some yahoo groups I discovered a clip of April from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles getting darted. It was a REALLY good cartoon scene. I posted it on the chloroforum and Youtube.

Mystique Gassing Scene

Haven't updated in a while, but that's okay there's a reason for it. First, I wanted people to take time to appreciate those Jubilee scans I found. Also, I was redesigning the Comic Book Sleepy Database. It's had over 6,200 page views. It just shows you there are hundreds of people out there who share the sleepy fascination.
Anyway, instead of having one gigantic list of scenes I divided it into three categories. There are sleeping gas, chloroform or "other" scenes. The first two are obvious. The "other" database will have injections, tranquilizer darts, head KOs, drugged drinks, psionic blasts, etc. But don't worry, I will list what kind of KO each scene is in the "other" database.

Okay, so I am unleashing yet another sleeping gas scene (because gas scenes freaking RULE!). Here it is from Kitty Pryde and Wolverine #002. It's Shadowcat and she is being knocked unconscious with a blast of sleeping gas from some guy in a suit and devil mask. Yay. I think Kitty Pryde is really cute, especially in that costume she is wearing. It's like some dancer's leotard or something, but it's hot. I actually have a whole bunch of scans where Kitty is knocked unconscious.

I was looking through my collection of comic scans when I came across this one from Mystique #3:

I looked at it and went, "WOW! This is one great gassing sequence!" First of all, Mystique is just good looking (aren't all comic girls?). She has on this sexy outfit that adds so much to the scene. Then there is the sleeping gas itself. The gas surrounds her head, but it's still clear enough so that it doesn't completely cover her head. Normally a lot of gassing scenes end right there, no sleepy shots or anything. But right after Mystique gets a whiff of that gas there is a panel of her struggling to stay awake. You see her knees buckle as the gas starts to take effect. Finally, there is a nice shot of her unconscious on the ground. The wake up scene is good too. It really shows how the anesthetic is still circulating in her system, not completely worn off. Groggy shots are a good thing!

Ah what else to talk about. I have four clips on my Youtube site, all of which have been viewed hundreds of times. I hardly didn't even promote the clips, and somehow people still watch and even suscribe to them! I can see why though: if you Google "inspector gadget gassed" or something like that, a result is my Youtube site.

On Monday, the blog recieved 136 page views, 66 unique visitors and 20 returning visitors. That's the most visitors I have recieved for the blog ever so far.
Yesterday the comic database recieved 601 views (still doesn't beat the record set on July 9, when 90 unique visitors loaded the page 976 times).

"Mommy, what's sleeping gas?"

I have a good set of scenes today. You all know how I love to find different versions of the same scene (like the Sue Storm/Puppet Master scenes). Well I'm back and this time the damsel is Jubilee of the X-Men. For those of you familiar with the X-Men animated series, you are probably aware that Jubilee is gassed TWICE in the first episode, "The Night of the Sentinels". I uploaded the clip onto Youtube.Click here to view it. Wasn't that a good clip?
Now, a lot of times they will make a comic book that is based on the animated series. There was a comic called X-Men Adventures, and like the TV show, it also had a double gassing of Jubilee. Here are the scans as evidence:

That's not a bad set of scenes; there is even a sleepy shot of Jubilee in the last one.
A comic book is good enough. But no, they had to make a MANGA based on the hit TV series. Once again, Jubilee is gassed twice in the first two volumes (thanks to Project X for the scans):

So far you have seen THREE different versions of the Jubilee double gassing. Usually, three different versions is the most it's ever going to get folks! However I have a FOURTH version. How I came across this fourth version has an interesting history that I am about to share with you.
One day I was browsing a huge rummage sale in a church. There was this room with a whole bunch of old used books. Most of the books in the room were junk, picture books and novels you only read once. While looking through some childrens books I noticed an X-Men comic. I thought "wow, X-men, there must be a sleeping gas scene in this book!" I opened it up and WHAT DO YOU KNOW there is a picture of Jubilee choking in a cloud of knockout gas. I turn the pages and THERE IS ANOTHER ONE!!! It's even better than the first. I so wanted to steal that book (I was with my family at the time, and didn't want them to think I was weird for buying a stupid 10 page X-Men book for kids). In the end, I left the book at the rummage sale. Boy that pissed me off!
Well yesterday I went to my local library and found the book! The book is called "X-Men: Enter the X-men" (ISBN: 0-679-85707-9) and is written for like 5 year olds. You are probably sick of reading this and just want to see the scans. Okay, here they are:

TIME OUT! So imagine this scenario: a little boy is laying in his bed and his mom reads the boy a bedtime story. The boy chooses the X-Men book because he got it at the library. The mother then reads the passage "Jubilee ran, but the Sentinel gassed her". The following conversation ensues:
BOY: "What did the gas do to Jubilee mommy"?
MOM: "Why, it put her to sleep."
BOY: "How? Is it a special kind of gas?"
MOM: "Yes, it's sleeping gas. When you breathe it, it puts you to sleep."
BOY: "Sleeping gas? Sounds interesting. Read more mommy!"
[The mother continues reading and approaches the second gas scene.]
BOY: "Look! They gassed Jubilee again! She looks pretty when she is asleep."
MOM: "........"
BOY: "Ok mommy, I feel like going to sleep. Will you give me some sleeping gas?"
MOM: "...sure."

...and a fetish is born.

Deep Breath Now...

I updated the database with more scans from the Project X gas scene archive. In addition to the classic scenes, I also included scans from West Coast Avengers Annual #2. Three superheroines get knocked out: Captain Marvel, Wasp and She-Hulk! I included the best one right here:

You see, no matter how strong one is, one still needs to breathe. So it must have sucked when She-Hulk surfaced from the water only to take in a lungful of sleeping gas. That's just pure genius.
There's more to the sequence though, and it's all in the database. There is one where the Wasp is captured and placed in a ball filled with knockout gas (just how did the guy acquire a ball filled with gas?)

I am using photobucket to host my images because they allow me to upload multiple images at once. I only have 1GB of storage, but it's more than enough.

I've found some pretty good scenes lately so stay tuned because more scans are coming!

Talia Dart Scene

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usFree Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usFree Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usFree Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
Wow, where do I start on this scene? I heard about it in the clip request section of the chloroforum and decided to launch my own investigation. I figured out that the scene was in Detective Comics #750. It was a pretty awesome find as you have already seen.
Whisper A'Daire is the girl with white hair and Talia Al Ghul is the one in the bathing suit. I'm very confused as to what is going on, but somehow Whisper and Talia both get darted. Yeah I know it's incredible. Talia has a tranquilizer dart in her shoulder while Whisper has a dart in her...HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS! Both are feeling a little tired and fall asleep. Nice cradle carry of Talia and a sleepy shot of Whisper. I actually think this is one of the best dart scenes I've ever laid eyes upon.

I added the Detective Comics #750 scene to the comic database. I also added a dart scene from Green Arrow #12. Actually the heroine doesn't get knocked out completely (well, I hate to say this but she's actually killed...awwww).
Then there is a crappy sleeping gas scene from Inferior Five #2. The Wasp-like character uses a gas gun. Yeah just look at it.

The other day I realized there is a neat way to classify knockout methods. There are two types of KOs: soft KOs and hard KOs. Soft KOs are when the victim is rendered unconscious with gas, chloroform or a drugged cup of tea. Basically a slow, painless way to fall asleep. A Hard KO would be a whack to the head, an injection, a tranquilizer dart or an electric shock. In other words, hard KOs hurt! I like soft KOs so I will feature more of those.

Did you notice the new site logo? A lot of sites have their very own logo, so I decided to make my own. I made it using MS Paint and Microsoft Word. Yeah, pretty pathetic but it works.

I H-H-Hope You Like Chl-Chloroform!

I updated the database with some Ranma 1/2 scans. Akane chloroformedRanma 1/2 is a manga by the famous manga artist Rumiko Takahashi. She uses a lot of knockout gags throughout her comics. I remember this one volume where Ranma-chan was rendered unconscious by knockout drops (can't find the scans...yet). I mean there was a character whose specialty was paralysis and sleeping powders (that character being Kodachi the black rose). Unfortunately she used her paralysis powder on men most of the time I believe.
Of course the best sleepy scene in Ranma 1/2 was when Akane was chloroformed in the Romeo and Juliet story (volume 8). It was the only chloroforming in the entire series, but damn it was good. I remember reading it at the library for the first time. The scene was a total surprise and caught me off guard.
It has all the elements that make up a good chloroform scene. The most important aspect of this scene is that a powerful girl gets subdued by a weak boy. The one holding the chloroform rag is Gosunkugi, a frail outcast at Akane's highschool. Gosunkugi catches Akane by surprise with the cloth causing her to inhale some of the fumes. However, she is still strong enough to throw Gosunkugi to the ground, once again showing her dominance. Soon though, the chloroform fumes start affecting her and she goes to sleep. There are nice sleepy shots of Akane in the following panels. As a matter of fact I think Akane remains unconscious for a very long time (must have been the potent chloroform).
In the anime Akane is not chloroformed. Instead, she is sprayed with sleeping gas (I actually have this episode and will clip it when I have time). It's inferior to the manga version in every way. First off, it's not even Gosunkugi who's spraying the gas, it's some ninja dude named Sasuke. There's also no good sleepy shot.
Bottom line: The chloroform scene in Ranma 1/2 is perhaps one of the most important scenes in all of manga.

Other Ranma 1/2 scans I posted that you may or may not know about are: Akane gassed by Mousse, Akane gassed by Happosai, Ranma-chan drugged by Ryouga and finally, the surprisingly hot Nodoka (Ranma's mom) gassed by Ranma's dad. The Nodoka gassing is also a really good scene, so definitely save it to your hard disk.

Oh yeah, I found screencaps of a chloroform scene in an anime called Elemental Gerad (episode 3). It was on the LOZ manga scan page (a DID site with a few knockout scenes). I will try to download that episode and see what it's all about.

I posted a link to the comic database on AVGDID. It's one of those sites that focuses mostly on DID art, but every once in a while they will have a chloroforming.
The comic database has been viewed 956 times so far today. That beats Thursday's record (which was officially 874 hits). I promote the database more which is why it has so many hits (2,649 in four days).

Incredible Results

Wow man, I just posted a link on the Chloroforum to my comic database. In one day this single webpage generated over 870 hits. So far, my database has been viewed over 1,300 times. Just goes to show you, there are a lot of people out there who are interested in sleepy scenes in mainstream media.
In terms of page views, yesterday has got to be a record for me. Of all the websites I have ever made, none have ever recieved that much traffic in one day. One of my sites has been online for almost three years, and it has been viewed only about 10,000 times. In a week that site only gets like 50 page views. But this site is just insane. Just today the comic database has already gotten almost 500 page views.

In response to the overwhelming show of support, I have decided to add more scenes to the database. This time it's all the chloros from Project X's old site. Man I used to love that site too; it was probably one of the most influential sleepy sites ever. So yeah, the database is full of stuff to keep you busy for the next week probably. But don't worry, I will post some really nice material from my collection as soon as I get the old stuff out of the way. Then we can really get this party started!

The Classics

A huge update to the database. Nothing really new, but then again it's a huge update if you think about it. Anyone who knows about the sleepy fantasy would have seen most of the scans I added. There is the famous chloro on the cover of Batman Gotham Knights and also the chloros from the CrossGen comic Ruse. Basically all the old scenes we all know about have been added to give the database a little foundation. My sources include The Land of Nod and The Project X site. In a way you can say I am competing with those sleepy sites. Most sleepy sites are not updated anymore, probably because they ran out of content to post. One day I will run out of content, but I don't think for a very long time.

I got the best scans I could possibly get. You will notice a huge difference in image quality. You can actually read the sleepy dialog and context. I am a completist, so I included the wake up scene (if there was one). I included any scene where the damsel is unconscious. So this isn't just about the knockout; it's about seeing the girl sleeping.

I think it's important to look at each comic very carefully. For example, this chloroform scene from Mystique #008 is fairly well known:

Now that's a good scene! We see the rag being soaked with ether. Then the rag is placed firmly over the girl's mouth and nose, with Mystique calmly saying "breathe". Brilliant. This scene would have made my day, but if you read on Mystique herself gets rendered unconscious! Only this time, it's the result of a viral infection. Well, take a look for yourself:

Not bad! It was from the same issue too. Just goes to show you, there is a TON of good material out there.

So once again, the sleepy comic database has been updated with lots of the classics (most with better quality scans) so check it out.

My goal is to have a very large database of sleepy scenes in comics.

I posted a link to this site on the Chloroforum. Don't know how it will be recieved, but hopefully it will be positive. I mean I am practically doing all the hard work here! This is something I want to do though.

Another Missed Opportunity

The Wasp has been knocked out numerous times. She was always being gassed and put into jars. Well when I learned that The Wasp was chloroformed in Tales to Astonish #66, I just had to find the scans! I found them alright, but alas there was no chloro. The chloroforming happens off panel, so we only get a few unconscious shots of the beautiful Wasp. IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOD!

Also in store for everyone are scans from Avengers v3 #35. A female does get gassed, but it's mostly men. It's interesting how they defeated Thor using a gas that penetrates the skin. That must be one weird sleeping gas.

Finally, a really bad scene from Black Panther v4 #8. Hard to tell who gets gassed, but Rogue definitely gets hit with some knockout gas. No matter, it's still a scene!!!

These scenes have been added to the database.

A New Database

There are many databases out there, but a database dedicated soley to sleepy scenes in comics is unheard of so far. So I have decided to make one. It's not complete (only about 10 entries) but as I find more scenes I will add it along with scans. So basically I am doing all the work, but I enjoy it at least.

To kick off the celebration, I'm revealing a scene I found in Avengers v3 #029. It's a group gassing but the majority of the victims of females including Scarlet Witch and She-Hulk.

Some tentacle creature grabs our heroines and blows sleeping gas into their faces. One of the damsels (I think it's Mockingbird or Warbird or Marvel Girl, I don't know) yells out "G-GAS!" It's interesting how heroines always yell out "Gas" when they are being exposed to sleeping gas. You'd think they would be smart enough to hold their breath.

There you go, another great find in the world of comics. I'll add it to the database. I also put a link to the database on the sidebar.

Wonder Woman Peril Art

So I was surfing the web sometime around December 21,2005 when I came across a piece of artwork on deviantart. Deviantart is one of those websites that has hidden treasures, if you only knew where to look. So while searching for "wonder woman" in deviantart, I found this short comic: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/19112111/. (Warning: Some of Nerv Goury's artwork is for mature audiences).
It has everything a person with a sleepy fascination could want. There is the initial cloud of knockout gas, used to weaken the Amazon. Then the villain silently approaches Wonder Woman from behind, soaking a cloth with chloroform (Wonder Woman's true weakness)! The cloth is firmly placed over Wonder Woman's mouth, who is still weak from the gas attack. Finally she succumbs to the fumes and we get a nice sleepy shot of her. A truly remarkable piece of work I must say.
